Description of Programme
See Asia, and the religion of Buddhism, in an entirely new light.
The Rise of Asia Museum (RoAM) is a new museum in Haw Par Villa. RoAM will explore the ancient contributions of Asia, such as culture, religion, and the arts; its eclipse during the colonial period; and its postwar reemergence. The museum will help the world understand the ascendancy of Asian geopolitics, economics, and culture.
This guided tour through the museum will allow participants to learn about Asia’s dominance in the ancient past, how the Europeans colonised much of Asia, and how Asian countries overcame significant challenges such as World War II and the struggle for independence to become economic, cultural, and military giants today.
Participants will realise the importance of military defence and strength, and how pragmatic and sound economic policies lead to growth and development.
The museum also includes an exhibition on the rise and spread of Buddhism over 2,500 years. Participants will learn about the impact of Buddhism on the world, and striking similarities across major world religions.
The programme includes interactive elements such as quizzes using game-based learning tools. It will conclude with a reflection session to recap and reinforce the lessons learned.
