Description of Programme
This cycling tour ""Northeastern Delights"" explores the northeastern corner of Singapore, commencing at the Punggol Waterway Park and exploring and viewing some of Singapore’s fascinating achievements. Modern and luxuriant homes line the picturesque waterway encountering diverse landscapes, from manicured gardens and vibrant flora to serene lakes and captivating bridges. One of the highlights, the tour runs through Coney Island Park, a pristine sanctuary teeming with biodiversity with a network of trails and ecosystems, including mangroves, coastal forests, and secluded beaches. We will also pass the Punggol Digital District, designated as a future site for a seamless ecosystem where innovators, learners and the community can thrive. The Waterway itself is part of a larger national solution to address Singapore’s water needs.
Specific Learning Points
• Singapore public housing system has delivered a high standard of housing to the people
• Water security is achieved through many innovative solutions. In thinking and acting holistically, we now have waterways to enhance our homes as well as a larger water catchment area.
• Conservation and the preservation of nature is important as we combat the effects of Climate Change. We must preserve important tracts of land like Coney Island and be very deliberate in our land use planning.
• The future of Singapore’s economy relies on aligning with the trends, so digitalisation and AI are important areas of the future.
