Description of Programme
During World War II, Singapore was regarded by many as a fortress which would never fall – yet it did in just 70 days, to the Imperial Japanese Army, which defeated an Allied force more than twice its size! Find out how it happened, and the mistakes the Allies made which led to the disastrous surrender.
These principles of war are applicable to Singapore, even today. Through a video presentation and new Galleries on the Malayan Campaign at the Rise of Asia Museum, appreciate the application of Principles of war by the Japanese Army and the Allies during World War II, and see how the principles can be applied in unconventional warfare during the Confrontation with Indonesia.
Discover the importance of morale and pride through the story of the Malay Regiment at Reflections at Bukit Chandu. Understand the role of terrain in enhancing the principle of security and how principles of war are applied in today’s SAF at Kent Ridge Park, thereby appreciating the need for Commitment to Defence (C2D), the Singapore Armed Forces, and Total Defence.
Programme includes short Amazing Race, trivia quiz, video presentation and galleries at Rise of Asia Museum and reflection session.
