Description of Programme

On this popular tour, visit key sites where the Battle for Singapore was fought. Through exciting and well-researched stories, understand the strategies and tactics employed by the Allies and the Japanese during WWII and appreciate the importance of preparedness and sound military leadership even in peacetime. 

Watch a video & explore the WWII gallery at the Rise of Asia Museum to understand the background to the Pacific War. Following this introduction, visit two WWII sites of your unit’s choice from the list of available sites: Kranji War Cemetery, The Changi Museum, Former Ford Factory, Labrador Park or Reflections at Bukit Chandu.  

Understand what life was like during the Japanese Occupation at Former Ford Factory. Pay homage to the war heroes at Kranji War Cemetery. Discover the history of artillery at Labrador Park. Learn about the Battle of Pasir Panjang at Reflections at Bukit Chandu and see how Prisoners-of-War and Civilian Internees suffered at The Changi Museum. 

Through the tour, reflect on the sacrifices made by thousands of Allied military personnel in the defence of Malaya and Singapore in WWII and understand the need for Commitment to Defence (C2D), the Singapore Armed Forces, and Total Defence, in peacetime.

Terms and Conditions

Amendments

 a. The units will be allowed to make a one-time amendment to their booking, to be communicated in writing at least ten working days before the conduct of the NE Activity. 

 b. If the units submit an amendment to their booking less than ten working days before the conduct of the NE Activity, they will be charged an amendment fee. 

 Absentees

 a. The full amount will be charged per participant who is absent from the NE Activity without any valid reason. 

 b. The charges will be waived in full for absent participants with a valid reason, subject to a maximum of 10 per cent of the agreed number of participants. 

 c. The following valid reasons for absenteeism are: 

 c.i. Submit a valid medical certificate or relevant medical documentation, or 

 c.ii. Furnish certain compelling reasons which are unrelated to work commitments, such as compassionate leave

 d. Relevant documentation must be provided within 5 working days of the completion of the NE Activity. 

 Cancellation

 a. In the event that units request cancellation of confirmed NE Activities, cancellation charges may be imposed on these units, if a cancellation notice is not received (in writing) at least 10 working days prior to the confirmed date of the Activity. The cancellation charges will be as follows:
