THE SSNVR’S HISTORIC ROLE IN SINGAPORE’S NAVAL STORY
by Singapore Navy Museum
Did you know that the Republic of Singapore Navy
(RSN) has its origins in the Straits Settlements Naval Volunteer Reserve
(SSNVR)? Hear about the SSNVR's formation and its base right at the very spot
that the RSN’s Ensign was hoisted for the first time, and also its role and its
resources during the Second World War. The story of the RSN and how it has
grown into the vital force that it now is, will also be shared through a visit
to the Singapore Navy Museum.
